S.M.A. is keeping Monegasque beaches cleaned

The employees of the “Société Monegasque d’Assainissement” in charge of cleaning up the beaches and bathing waters in Monaco had an unexpected catch awaited when they last went on their “fishing trip”: plastic bottles, cigarette ends, cans, lighters…. More meaningful perhaps is the quantity of rubbish collected each and every day from the two ports and on the beach of the Principality: over 100 kg! According to the Director General of S.M.A such pollution is down to the negligence of holiday makers, who throw their garbage overboard. This is worsened by the East winds, which bring refuse from the Italian shorelines onto the Monegasque coast.
