Principality association promotes sport for the mentally handicapped

Soroptimist is a Monegasque fund-raising company providing support to handicapped people in their everyday lives. It has organized a dinner in Monaco tomorrow night (26th October) at the Hôtel Hermitage in aid of the Special Olympics. Created in Monaco in 1978 (although originating from the US), Soroptimist’s aim is to promote sporting activities amongst mentally handicapped people and the funds raised from the evening will go towards the participation of Monaco’s mentally handicapped in the Special Olympics in Shanghai in 2007. In general, this association fights for human rights and, in particular, the promotion of women in international relations. Throughout the year, they organize events to benefit those with limited mobility and help them to enjoy the beach and the sea, via initiatives such as ‘Handiplage’. Dinner will be followed by entertainment and it’s for a good cause so you are invited to go along and support it. For more information, visit
