Monaco social housing progress

Regular commuters into and out of Monaco at the Cap d’Ail (western) end will have noticed the major road works going on and apartment buildings that have sprung up along this road. These are all part of a massive programme to exploit the land left behind by the old railway tracks and station, and to create more accommodation for Monégasque nationals. Details on progress have emerged from the department involved with urban planning. The road works are part of a project for the voie rapide (in a bigger city this would translate as a by-pass) which is being extended to link the east with the west. The Schedule of delivery for apartments are: Villa Pasteur in blvd Rainier III (33) and rue de la Turbie (20) will be ready by the end of the year, Zone A Fontvieille – 149 ready for March 2007 and another 50 by end of that year, the five blocks going up along the old railway line and above rue Grimaldi (Auréglia) will provide a total of 183 dwellings by middle of 2007
