Masters Series Monte-Carlo presented by Rolex from 14th to 22nd April 2007
The next Masters Series Monte Carlo presented by ROLEX will take place from 14th to 22nd April 2007. The renowned Tennis Open will be held, as in previous years, in the prestigious setting of the Monte Carlo Country Club. A benchmark tournament for the ATP circuit, the Masters Series Monte Carlo 2007 will include several new features in line with new ATP initiatives, as Zeljko Franulovic, Tournament Director explains : Both the singles and doubles matches in the final draw will begin on Sunday 15th April (no longer Monday), i.e. the same day as the last qualifying round. Prices for seats on this day will not however be increased (individual admission: 15 euros / group rate: 10 euros). The first qualifying round will begin on Saturday 14th April at 11 a.m. The Men’s Singles final will take place as the best of three sets (instead of the traditional five sets); The Doubles final will be scheduled for the morning of Sunday 22nd April at 11 a.m. Various activities are also being planned for the new edition, with a special day for children on Sunday 15th April featuring a big surprise rally during which various gifts will be handed out and meetings set up with players from the Tournament. In 2006, the talented young Spanish player Rafael Nadal won the 100th edition, having competed against Roger Federer for the second year running in front of over 8,000 excited spectators. In all, the Tournament drew in more than 105,000 spectators and 272 journalists from 18 countries.
