Princess Grace Hospital fighting cancer

Sophisticated new equipment thanks to Monaco’s Ecoute Cancer Réconfort. The Princess Grace Hospital - Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace (CHP) – in Monaco has a sophisticated new piece of equipment for its laboratory in the ongoing battle against cancer. More...Thanks to the association Ecoute Cancer Réconfort, the hospital has taken delivery of two microscopes and a digital camera which are compatible with its digital imaging station (Tribvn®). The equipment will enable the hospital to build up a much clearer picture of what is happening to cancerous cells in each patient, allowing them to create a dossier so they can follow the development of the disease more closely and react accordingly. Other key benefits are that they will be able to transmit images directly and almost instantaneously to other experts if they need to consult on treatment, and can enter into the network of exchange with other laboratories, all of whom have one aim - to help improve treatment.

Monaco land extension hopes and fears. Robert Calcagno seeks to reassure after results of an opinion survey

The Principality of Monaco’s plans to extend its territory out to sea by 12 hectares at Le Portier near the Grand Prix tunnel was bound to make waves. This week Robert Calcagno, advisor to the government on urban planning and the environment reported back on an opinion survey of 73 key figures in the Principality, and sought to allay fears that the government would not be able to manage such a big project. New British Ambassador to France will also cover Principality

Sir Peter Westmacott, formerly British Ambassador to Turkey, and newly appointed Ambassador in Paris, will also take on the role of being the new British Ambassador to Monaco. Sir Peter is expected to present his credentials to HSH Prince Albert II in the next two weeks. However, there will be no embassy in Monaco and the current Honorary Consul, Eric Blair, will continue to report to Marseille on a day-to-day basis. In Marseille, Simon Taylor has replaced Hugh Hunter as head of Post.

Mériden Beach Plaza Hotel hosts Rencontres des Métiers de la Banque de Monaco. The first Rencontre des Métiers de la Banque de Monaco took place in the Sea Club of the Méridien Beach Plaza Hotel, Wednesday 4 April . Students from every level of education have been welcomed to attend to meet bank representatives and find out about jobs and careers in the banking sector and how it differs in the Principality from other countries. Students have also found out more about the Diplôme Européen d’Etudes Supérieures de Banque «option Place Bancaire Monégasque» (a European diploma in banking) which starts in September 2007. 

The Open of Tennis in Monte-Carlo

On April 14 will start the famous Open of Tennis in the Principality at the beautiful Monte-Carlo Country Club, so these days are the last days to organize it perfectly. Mayor election in the Principality

On Tuesday, April 3rd 2007, Mr. Georges Marsan was re-elected for the second time, Mayor of the Principality of Monaco together with all his 7 assistants. The election took place at he City Hall of Monaco in presence of an important and numerous audience came specially for this event. (more…)
