Party given by Prince Albert II

The party given by Prince Albert II to celebrate his 50th birthday recalled for many a similar ‘do’ nearly three years ago on 12 July 2005. That was the day when he was officially inaugurated as head of state, some three months after his father Prince Rainier III passed away. Attention had been paid to every detail with the Monegasque colours of red and white dominating the scene, from the flags flying through to the table cloths, roses and umbrellas. The early spring sun shone down on the party goers who enjoyed barbecued hot dogs American style, and beautifully prepared local specialities. The wine and champagne was flowing, and the Prince’s band of the Carabiniers entertained, their handsome conductor surrounded by children and completely unperturbed by the toddler waving his arms about just infront of him.
