Franco-Monegasque Cooperation Committee of 01/04/2008

The Franco-Monegasque Cooperation Committee met last April 1st in Paris at the French Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs, represented on the French side by Mr Gérard Errera, the Secretary General of the French Ministry for Foreign and European Affairs, and on the Monegasque side, by H.E. Mr Jean-Paul Proust, Minister of State.

The two Heads of Delegation underlined the excellent relations between both countries and the fact that a committee in charge of dealing with issues of local interest in greater depth, was set up in 2006 and had already met twice since the last joint Franco-Monegasque Cooperation Committee.

The President of the Monegasque Delegation submitted a report on the Principality’s contribution to economic and social life in the neighbouring French communities.

The main topics discussed during this meeting were as follows:
- Update on the ratification of the Convention on administrative cooperation and judicial assistance in penal matters and the exchange of letters on investor security;
- issues concerning economics, insurance and finance linking the two countries.

The partnership project between the Principality, the Mercantour National Park and the Italian Alpi Marittime Regional Park.

Other issues concerned:
- The Union for the Mediterranean;
- The Agreement between the European Community and the Principality relating to pharmaceutical and cosmetic products,

The idea of signing a framework convention for health cooperation was touched upon in the morning.

Finally, the issue regarding the situation of French nationals in Monaco was also broached during a special meeting in the afternoon
